The Palominas Fire District is located in Southeastern Arizona in Cochise County. Cochise County has a population of 135,000 covering nearly 6170 square miles. Our county includes more than 37 emergency response organizations including fire departments, ambulance services and federal response services.

The Palominas Fire District was established in 1974 with a handful of volunteers and fewer pieces of equipment- with one fire station. Currently we are operating with 12 trucks, 4 stations and 28 volunteers. The District is governed by a 5 man board with a yearly budget of approximately $350,000.

The 87 square miles of the Palominas Fire District has a growing population of over 4500 people. The district border is shared on 15 miles with the Mexican border. The community has had a growth rate of 44% in the past 5 years, 15% in 2003 alone, and is currently experiencing community growth including construction of sub divisions encompassing 9000 acres. In the year 2000, a 7000 acre gated community was proposed, mostly consisting of 3000 to 5000 square foot homes.
